Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Hits New Milestones Despite 14% Drop in Day 7 Collections

Bhool Bulaiya 2 vs Singham Again
After a strong start, Diwali’s big-budget releases, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, have seen their box office collections gradually decline over the past week. Despite initial enthusiasm, both films have been affected by mixed reviews and unfavourable word-of-mouth, leading to a drop in audience interest and earnings. Both films opened with promising numbers: Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn, earned ₹43.5 crore on its opening day, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, led by Kartik Aaryan, made ₹35.5 crore. However, by Sunday, their collections had already begun to dip, with Singham Again earning ₹35.75 crore and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 bringing in ₹33.5 crore. By Wednesday, the downward trend continued, with both films’ earnings dropping to about ₹10.25 crore for Singham Again and ₹10.5 crore for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Declining Collections and Revised Expectations

Trade analysts have now revised their combined box-office projections for both films. Originally expected to rake in ₹1,000-1,100 crore, these estimates have now been reduced to ₹500-600 crore, following a steady decline in collections over the week.

Film distributor and trade analyst Shaaminder Malik explained that while big-budget films usually experience a slight dip (15-20%) on the Monday after opening, both Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 have faced consistent declines since Sunday. “Expectations for these two films are limited now,” he said.

Mixed Word-of-Mouth Hurts Box Office Momentum

According to Girish Wankhede, another film trade analyst, the main reason behind the drop is the mixed word-of-mouth. “Generally, if a big film gets positive feedback, its collections improve over the week. But since the feedback for both these films has been mixed, the collections started to fall right after Sunday,” Wankhede said.

Both films, despite their star power and big budgets, have failed to create lasting buzz. The content, according to some critics, hasn’t resonated with audiences. “There’s no repeat value in these films. Even the music, which is crucial for Bollywood films, lacks depth,” Wankhede added. The general sentiment is that neither Singham Again nor Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has really found its footing with the audience, which is reflected in the drop in ticket sales.

The Second Week Will Be the True Test

For both films, the second week will be crucial. Exhibitors and trade experts believe that the true success of these films will be determined by their performance in the coming days. Devang Sampat, managing director at Cinepolis India, noted, “Both films are doing well now, and they’ve surpassed the box office numbers of their previous franchise films. But the second week will be the real test.”

Despite the drop in collections, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 have still managed to pull in impressive totals. As of now, Singham Again has earned ₹164.2 crore, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has made ₹148.7 crore.

Conclusion: Can These Films Bounce Back?

While both films initially showed great promise, their continued success will hinge on their ability to maintain audience interest in the second week. With competition from other films and a general dip in excitement, it remains to be seen whether Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 can regain their momentum or will fizzle out at the box office.
